Which is better for hanging multiple hammocks? I have heard that there not to many spots to "hang" at/near the RPH shelter.

I tented at the latter last summer and passed by the former in the morning after that. The shelter is a pretty nice cabin, close to a road and other houses. There are trees there, but I doubt you'll find lots of places for hanging hammocks there. The campsite is an open patch with an old house (locked), a picnic table, and a tree in the middle. It is surrounded by rather dense woods (new growth), but the woods across the dirt road (the one you take to get there from the AT) should be quite suitable for hanging hammocks. Whether this would be legal or not, I do not know.

One good spot for hanging at the RPH shelter, that's it. I was disappointed at the lack of spots there.
