Hey guys, I am looking for a scale to weigh my light equipment. Mainly to compare what I have to whats out there, the ounce scales on amazon appear small but probably doable. thanks

Most post offices sell a scale. Go on e-bay, there are quite a few listed there.

I have an old, mechanical, postage scale that I use. While it's not as easy to read as a digital I'd bet it's probably just as acurate as a cheap digital scale.

for under 16oz items, can get harbor freight small digital scale, can find on sale for $8,

larger weight items just go to post office

OR both harbor freight and walmart sell a digital for about $25 that will do several pounds

It's handy to get one with a tare function so you can use an empty coffee can or plastic gallon container as a platform for weighing bulky items such as packs, quilts, etc. I also like having both gram and ounce settings. I got mine at Staples.

Fish scale works great for items over a pound and is easy to use. Refer to above posts for under a pound.

Check out Staples--May be more expensive than ones mentioned but you could catch a sale.

For ones with a tare function check tobacco stores / head shops - especially if you're looking to get down into grams.

This scale (http://www.harborfreight.com/digital-scale-95364.html) from HF looks like it would do the job!

The ones at my local record shop (with a head shop in the back) are REALLY expensive -- I was completely shocked how pricy they were.

You don't need to buy one if you have a Post Office nearby with a parcel mailing kiosk. I'm not sure of the official name. At my local Post Office they have a kiosk in the lobby where you can weigh your package and buy the postage with a CC or debit card at any time night or day. If no one's in line, bring your stuff and weigh away!

I got one at Target for 15 bucks. It's a simple analog scale and works for up to 11lbs. I'm very happy with it.
