I am hiking the Shenandoah Park in May. I am looking for a place to leave a car for a week or so at the North end of the park.
Does anyone know if the Park Service allows long tearm parking at the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center? :-? How about the 4-H Center on rt. 602. I understand that they may allow long term parking. Any one know?

Uncertain of the 4-H but so long as you file a backcountry permit w/ NPS, you can park anywhere you want for however long while in the park.....:dance

You could probably park your car at terrapine hostel right outside the north end of the park. Call him and ask him. He might charge you a small fee, but it will be safer there than anywhere else.

There is a small roadside parking space at the Rte. 602 road crossing just west of the gap (Clarks Gap?) if you don't mind leaving your car next to the road.

I park at the 4-h center all the time. One of the lots has a trail leading from it to the A-T. Others have left there cars here for over a week but I would check in the office there first. Scaper

Ditto on the 4-H Center. I parked my truck there last Spring on my hike from Harpers Ferry to SNP. They seem to be very friendly and accomadating to hikers.
