I am heading out for a 2 day hike from Iron Mt. Gap to 19E on Thursday and Friday of next week. Does anyone know what the weather forecast is for Carvers Gap?

Weather.com provides a forecast for the town of Roan Mountain, NC (http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USTN0429) that predicts highs in the low 50's, and overnight lows in the 30s.
.
I found a forecast for Beech Mountain (http://www.averyweather.com/Forecast/Beech+Mountain), which is supposed to be a few miles north of Hump Mountain.
Thursday - Mostly to partly cloudy; Chilly; AM snow showers or flurries; Blustery; High in the mid 30s; Low in the upper 20s
Friday - Partly cloudy; Chilly; High in the lower 40s; Low in the upper 20s
.
Much better forecast than when I went through in late October 2008. It was 12 degrees with 40 mph sustained winds and 70 mph gusts at Carvers Gap with 6" of fresh snow in the woods. At least the sky was a gorgeous blue!

I live in Roan Mountain at 2,500 ft, and we're expected a cold front on Tuesday. Carver's Gap at 5,500 ft. is -generally- 10 degrees cooler and especially windy when fronts come through. If I were you, I'd prepare for mid-winter conditions.

right now...it's gonna be cold up there...i'd bet 40's day and teens/20's by night with some serious wind...

Hiked that stretch last Monday after the cold front came through, and everything was iced up pretty good from Carvers Gap until you go back down into the woods by Grassy Ridge.
