You would fly into Hartsfield-Jackson. From there a lot of people arrange for a shuttle with the Hiker Hostel.

You better purchase a hikers guide soon to help you plan your trip. Type Hikers Guide in the search to find out how to purchase one.

You can also take AMTRAK to GA. There's a stop in Gainsville where you can get picked up. No hassles with your pack, just take it on the train with you!

Plus it arrives in Gainsville early in the morning, so you'll have a whole day of hiking right away.

assuming you get any sleep on the train. both Greyhound and Amtrack have stops in Gainesville, GA. there are several shuttlers in the area that can get you to Springer, but I think the Hiker Hostel has the best deal. I shuttle, but I can't match their deal.

Hiker Hostel is the best option coming from Atlanta. Make your reservation as soon as you know your arrival info; they fill up during thru hiker season.

Airtran has good rates. Cheaper, easier, faster than train/bus.

Very true.....and Airtran is in the process of merging with Southwest.

Go on their website and get on their email list, and wait for their specials. I fly from Atlanta - New Orleans once a month, I book in advance and pay $70-120 one way. They had a special the other day (you had to book by Oct. 20) one-way $45.70, including all fees.
