I have begun researching the possibility of a 2 week trip in 2012 on the IAT. I am struggling to find information of the quality that is available on the AT. I would like to start somewhere on the southern portion and head north. Doing Mt. "K" is not an important factor on this trip as I have been there before. My thought is that this is not to be a "forced march", seeing a new geographic region is, so daily mileage is not really important. Any help, suggestions or resources that you have or know of would be great. First hand knowledge would be even better.

I do have family in Maine that could assist in transportation to a trailhead and back to a city with transportation options and I plan to drive from KY to Maine. At this time, this is a solo adventure but I would be willing to partner up if things would work out. I have lots of options for a starting time also.

Thanks,
Rightfoot

I've read some interesting trail journals on the IAT, but I've lost some of the links.
This link has lots of info:

(http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=328010)From what I've read, it gets wilder and more interesting in Quebec and Maine is least interesting.
The Newfoundland section is supposed to be spectacular, but I'm not sure how complete it is.

I understand that the Maine section of the IAT is all road walk once you leave Baxter. You might as well just do the Canadian sections. There was a recent thread about this, look there first.
