Springer - NC border AT section

A few of us are planning on doing a weekend sectional hike (about 10 miles or less) of the AT somepoint between Springer and the ga/nc border. We'd like to park 1 car at a starting point and leave our 2nd car at some finishing point and hope to be able to camp out 1 night preferably at a shelter because it will be nippy tomorrow night.

Does anyone have any advice or experience of any good places/points we should look at doing such a plan?

Springer to Gooch Gap. Stay at Hawk Mtn Shelter.

Hogpen Gap to Unicoi Gap is also nice - you cross "Chattahoochee Gap" which is the spring that starts the Chattahoochee River - this is probably 12-13 miles - if you were going for a weekend and wanted to start on a Friday night, you could go SOUTH from Hogpen about 1 mile (or less) to Whitley Gap Shelter which is a real nice one and then go North to Blue Mountain Shelter - you'd pass Low Gap Shelter along the way (maybe about lunchtime).
