We are having an end of year sale for the 2011 BMT Thru-Hikers Guide(c)! Until February of 2012 there will be free shipping on all remaining copies of the BMT Guide in stock. I've got to clean out the closet for the 2012 guides. If you are looking for a stocking-stuffer gift for the trail dreamer in your life, or want to get a guide for planning a future hike knowing that it is sometime in the future when you will hike and plan on getting an updated guide closer to the hike anyway, now is the time!

I highly recommend this guide to anyone thinking about hiking the BMT. I'd rate it somewhere between "Must have" and "Don't leave home without it."

BTW, are there going to be many changes in the 2012 edition?

One thing not to forget is that the Motorcycle Motel at Deal's Gap will hold mail drops. That's about the most strategically located resupply point on the entire trail.

The changes so far:

- Updated Northern Terminus and info on the AT connector trails possible.

- Updated service listings (of course) including that one. Some have closed, some have opened, some have changes. There probably really isn't that much different this year.

- Updated mileage data and profiles. I've been working hard with the BMTA this year to get this the most accurate it has probably ever been. I've hiked about 2/3 of the BMT again in the last 12 months with a GPS getting that straight. I've got plans for that to follow...

- New cover photo (of course), you can see it on our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Benton-MacKaye-Trail-Thru-Hikers-Guide/120213108051924

- More listings for points on the trail such as water, views, campsites, etc.

- Some format changes such as the symbols used to try and make them more "clean" Awol of the "AT Guide" deserves mega kudos on that!

- This year I'll be going to a 2 year format. I've found that Most of my changes are in the background so to speak – new profile, font changes, re-formatting of some pages so they match each other better, etc. A 300 mile trail with less infrastructure per mile has fewer service providers to worry about, and most of the few changes could be done in a single page of an errata sheet. So the next book will be for the 2012-13 seasons.

I haven't thought about getting a pre-order system set up. When I get some other stuff worked off my plate I'll look into that.
