...from hogpen gap to Springer. The start of the AT, not directions to Amicalola. Leaving car at hogpen, got a ride to springer- then hiking to car. So does anyone have decent directions to springer mtn from hogpen? Thanks!

To get from Springer to Hogpen you just get on the trail and head north!!!

So, after you leave your car at Hogpen, drive East on Richard B. Russell Parkway for about 7 miles. At this point Alt 75 North will be a left turn. You will pass this intersection then right after the road will turn to the right and become Alt 75 South. Stay heading South about 6 miles then your road will intersect with US-129/State Road 11. Turn left and drive West for about 7 miles. Turn left on US-19/State Road 9 and head southwest for a bit more than 5 miles. Turn right on State Road 60 heading to Suches. After almost 7 miles turn left left on Cooper Gap Road. If you reach Suches and State Road 180, you have missed Cooper Gap Road and have gone too far on 60. At some point Cooper Gap Road gets you to Forest Service road 42, which takes you to the Springer parking lot. The parking area is somewhere between 10 and 14 miles from the turn off of State Road 60. You need to hike.9 miles to the summit of Springer, then come back that same .9 miles and pass your car to continue on your journey.
