Looks like new gear might be getting a lot lighter. Especially cookwear and anything solid.

How would that be applied to cookwear? I don't think a porous pot would be good, and besides it'd likely melt or burn quickly anyway. I wouldn't want it in anything I'd have to wash since it'd just sop things up like a sponge.

I don't see this lightening my gear very much since I don't carry much gear that's solid.

Maybe pack frames, eyelets for boots/shoes, grommets on tents/tarps, tent poles, trekking poles... there are so many applications for lighter and stronger. I agree, cookware might not be the best application though.
