My plan is to park at Davenport Gap, shuttle to Fontana Dam, NC, and hike back to my car at Davenport Gap. Do you think my car will be alright there? This will be my first hike and I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

Thanks!
Chad

Call Standing Bear Farm and check with Curtis. Off season he would probably cut you a deal, he does shuttles and it's only a mile north of Davenport Gap.

Awesome. I have heard of Curtis. Didn't know he had parking. I will talk to him!

I'm actually planning my hike for between March and July. Haven't decided yet. I shall ask him what he thinks for whenever I decide to go. Thanks again!

Park at Big Creek Ranger station instead. It is closer and free.

But the Rangers don't shuttle.

Curtis only charges $2/ day & when you get back to your car you can grab a shower there for a few bucks as well, I've done it several times & if you want an early start, you can grab a bunk there the night b4 for $15
