View Full Version : Damascus to Pearisburg services
Any recommendations on Hostels, resupplies, town shuttles etc? Should be there June '12.
No hostels except Rambunny's near Adkins but don't think it was open this past year. Don't know about this coming year. Pizza delivery at Partnership shelter, so-so resupply at Rural Retreat but you can hitch a mile or so south to Atkins if need be. Nothing after that till Pearisburg.
Change Rural Retreat to Groseclose. My mistake!

Don was superb. You will NOT be disappointed at all with this shuttle service.

Woods Hole hostel just S of Pearisburg is supposed to be something special.

In Pearisburg, I've stayed at the Rendezvous Motel on either end of section hikes. They accept mail drops and do shuttles, they're listed in the service guides e.g. Companion. They don't have a website but this link (http://www.insiderpages.com/b/3723056767/rendezvous-motel-pearisburg) give you some info. Don "Ratface" Raines also provides good shuttle service.

You can maildrop also at the Barn restaurant at Groseclose (I81 interchange). I thought the convenience stores there were really pricey.
Woods Hole is great. Highly recommend it.
You can try hitching from the road by Partnership shelter to Marion for supplies. The headquarters folks there though are very friendly. Usually pizza can be ordered there. They sell candy and sodas. No booze allowed at the shelter
A bit of a hitch to Bland, not a lot of traffic, but hikers do it. Same with Troutdale (is hostel still going there?)
