I am an AT Hiker. I have a 7 year old Osprey Aether 60 (60 liters size) backpack.
???? What backpack should I replace it with ????
I do not want anything smaller than 60 liters.

I do not want anything smaller than 60 liters.Take a look at the Osprey Atmos 65. Of the packs being produced by the big manufactuers, it's one of the best. I've also have heard lots of great reviews of the ULA Catalyst, but don't have any experience with it myself.

I second taking a look at the Atmos 65 . The Flash 65 is also a nice lightweight pack with lots of room.

Gregory Baltoro.

Or the Gregory Z55 (large is 61L) or 65 (large is 70L). I like the 55 better because of the front stash pocket and a full length zipper for front access. The 65 doesn't have the stash pocket but a nicer U shape front access. The stash pocket has a lot of uses and can hold a lot.
The new Aether 60 has some nice improvements (except for the colors) like a bottom access sleeping bag compartment and a small outside zipper pocket.
I was looking at some North Face packs the other day in a store. I don't remember the model names but they seam like nice packs. If I was in the market for a new pack I'd look into them more as well.

I am very pleased with my Osprey Aether 60 but the elastic on the pockets is wearing out.
I am reluctant to change from Osprey brand because I know they are good.
The Reviews by backpackers of the Atmos were very, very good.
It sounds like it would be difficult to find any backpack that would be much better.
The Atmos 65 is an excllent choice.

I am getting the Granite Gear Crown 60 when it comes out in March. 60 L--2lbs 2 oz--$200, this will replace my Vapor Trail

Had the Grgory Baltaro and it served me well for a few years. Then I recently bought a REI Flash 65 on clearance sale (new models coming this spring 2012) and after one use the hip belt started to sperate from the pack so, it went back and I bought a ULA Catalyst. I like alittle extra room in my pack and frome the first sight I fell in love with my ULA. FIts well and is quite a few grams less than a Gregory or simular backpacks. My suggestion is to go with the ULA! It is made in the USA after all.

Catalyst isn't >60L unless you're counting the external mesh pockets, which a lot of people don't like to do. Fantastic pack though, although I rarely use mine due to the size.
