i may have misled you onmy 4000 list. i only have the ones in new hampshire. still need a few[katahdin] in maine and a few in vermont to knock off the new england 4000 fters. i have a few of the ones in new york. yea, im aware of all those lists that are out there. the top 100 is a good list to knock off. i think some of the top 100 are bushwacks. not 100% sure but i think i remember hearing that somewhere.....it could be a different list altogether.

now i see what the rmc 100 is. it must be all the trails run by the randolph mountain club. i tell you what. ever since i knocked off the 4000 fters i have been hiking the different trails in the white mtns. my maps are better than 50% complete. i highlite each trail after knocking it off. back in august i did the six husbands trail[near edmunds col][gret gulf wilderness] after climbing washington via the tuck/lion head trail. that six husbands trail was awesome. we ended up finishing around 10:30 at night. what a great hike. i have some pics in my gallery...

Going on at least 4 hiking / backcountry fishing trips of 3 days or more each this coming year.

Selling off old hiking gear and golf clubs and a host of other under-used "stuff".

Stop smoking again. Breathing is kinda an important factor in the uphills.

i have a friend that will smoke if he is going uphill, downhill, flat ground at night inside his sleeping bag and just about anywhere he desires. the kid is a hiking machine to boot. the only time i can pull away from him is on the long uphills..i have some rather unique hiking friends, trust me....they usually pull something out of their arse every trip....

I'm turning 50 in June, so most of my resolutions will have to do with getting in shape by then.
I've tried and failed enough times I know it isn't easy, or getting easier. Still working on the plan.

ya gotta start out slow and remember not to expect giant gains immediatly, your geting older and it just doesnt work like it use to. the mind is a powerful tool for training. if you expect too much going into the program and nothing hapens your esteem will suffer. always think your going forward. just starting and maintaing any kind of workout program would be a plus. over training in the begining could be a real no no if you go too hard, go slow. its not about the immediate results but what u acheive in the long run. treat working out like starting a thruhike. ya need to be slow n steady early in order to go the long haul..

I'd like to resolve to tell my boss to "go jump" more so that I can go hiking more often.

Oh, wait, I keep forgetting - I'm working to pay off all of those bills for that expensive backpacking equipment that I bought!

To be tollerant of all of those who oppose my viewpoints however wrong they may be & maybe addknowledge my way to hike is not the only way only way to hike. To forgive those that drop sunflower seed shells on the trail, fart, dufficate, spit, sweat, snore on or some other way be by negligiance or they just don't give a dam somehow ruin my pristine trail expiernce (going to include wildlife too just to be safe).

Seriously, I hope the everyone has a enjoyable year with lots of great hiking! Be well my friends & I hope to meet you out on the trail!

My problem is I hike too much. My wife can't go because of medical reasons and I just leave and go on my own. I have been refurbishing a motorhome for two years so she can get out with me. I resolve to finish the MH this year so she can be on the road with me when I retire in a couple of years.

Starting a new job in two weeks so time off will be limited, but I can check off getting a new job. Resolution to section hike for one week on the AT, hike 300+ miles on the FT (weekend hikes) and paddle 100 miles, bike at least 100 miles and as many overnights as I can pack in the Florida winter hiking season, Disneyworld Mt. Everest Expedition 2nd year and hopefully a mud race and/or at lease one adventure race. Wow I got alot to do.

I stopped the drinkin today.... for a month. I do that every year- in the spring, but now that I'm in my thirties.... I should take better care of myself.
Guess I just wanted to start 2012 different and maybe get to do some hiking this summer!

Unfortunately many of my goals do not revolve around hiking directly. One does though- getting my mom out for a weekend trip with my dad and I. I got my dad all setup last year, and now it's time to see if mom can handle a bit of it.

Started a new diet at Jan 1 00:00. Basically I limit my calories for a meal based on enrgy spent since previous meal, multiplied by a factor for the caloric deficit. I will tweek the factor to maintain a more or less steady rate of weight loss. Still not sure to do about weight fluxuations. They are more extreme than you would expect sometimes. I've been kicking around the idea of skipping meals when my weight is h

... higher than expected, but I think a more graduated approach might work better. Like if I am using a factor of 65% of kcal burned, corrected by +- 100kcal for every pound I am higher or lower than projected. So say its been 12 hours since my last meal, for about 1200 kcal, plus another 800 kcal if I ran 8k or whatever, for a total of 2000kcal burned since last meal. If my factor if 60%, I would be entitled to a 1200 kcal meal. If however my weight is 3 pounds less than targeted for that date, I would increase that meal by 300kcal, for a total of 1500kcal. A big meal, but perhaps appropriare given the circumstances. If on the other hand its been 6 hours since the last meal, and I've done no exercise, and I'm 2 pounds more than projected, then I would be entitled to a meal of only 600 x 0.60 - 2 x 100 = 360-200 = 160. Anyhow, see how it goes.

Train every day in some shape or fashion until the start of my thru on March 10th. (already got a head start on this one as I've trained everyday for the last month minus a few days around Christmas)
Get outside at do hills with my pack every day it rains (this won't be hard because it NEVER rains here)
Spread my dad's ashes at every beautiful place between Springer and Katahdin
