Is there a wood burning stove in 501 shelter? I stayed there 7 years ago in Aug. So no need for heat then. I just simply can't remember.

don't think so, but like you I was there when it was hot so wasn't looking for one.

I was there 11/19 of 2011. There was no wood stove. There was a fire ring outside. It was a cold night, but with a door on the shelter, it wasn't all that bad inside.

There is NOT. Although operated by BMECC, the property is wholly owned by NPS, and a heating source would violate several of NPS's LIfe, Health and Safety Codes.
Sorry.

OK, like I said I couldn't remember. Might be heading there the end of the month. Play it by ear I guess.

I've always thought that 4-sided shelters could benefit from a small stove, but then along comes the idiot who builds too big of a fire in it and burns the place to the ground....
