I'm looking for a down layer for 3-season use. The Montbell seems to be the popular option but open to anything on sale. :)

Its really nice and the wrist warmers are pretty sweet. I actually got mine on sale for $80. Super warm!

I've had several different puffy jackets over the years. A Patagonia down sweater, a Micropuff pullover, a couple of vests, and a big down jacket from Sierra Designs (which I still use in the winter.) All were fine, but you asked about my favorite. Last year I saved my pennies, sold some other gear, and bought a Western Mountaineering Hooded Flash jacket (http://www.westernmountaineering.com/index.cfm?section=products&page=Down%20Garments&cat=Jackets-and-Vests&ContentId=76). Yeah, it's freaking expensive, but it's just about the perfect combination of weight, loft, and features.

I like my Montbell UL Down Inner Parka. After removing the shock cord along the bottom, it weighs in at something like 9.3 oz in a size XL.

That does indeed look like a great option. Great find. And yea, if it ever shows up on S&C it will be a steal...despite the color... :)

Currently using a Rab Microlight Alpine Jacket. My medium comes in at 12.5 oz, with a large having 5oz of down. Prior jacket was an older Montbell Down Inner jacket and it was never warm enough for me. If I didn't get a deal on the Rab, I'd probably using a WM Hood Flash Jacket.

My current fav is the Mountain Hardwear hooded nitrous,
but at 13.5oz for my medium it might be to heavy for some.

This one looks interesting. Right at my weight limit but 150g of down = 5.3 oz. Should be a warm sucker.
