A 5 bedroom house on the property will be given to the ATC. It will be used for training and to house the ridge runners.

How many runs does a ridge runner run if a ridge runner could run ridges?

This is a great deal for the park and a great deal for the ATC. Hitherto, trail crews used separate Ranger housing for the SWEAT and RockyTop trail crews. Now, it sounds like they'll have a permanent home. Best of all, it's away fro G'burg!

Now if they could only get a some smaller little buildings called Privies only bears would need to $h1+ in the woods near the shelters. :D

Agreed! Almost chopped off a finger or two with one of those shelter shovels while almost falling off the mountain in the snow while trying to get away from the shelter amongst the rhododendrons to do my business. NOT a good practice they have up there.

Can someone please post the details of the article? When I try to open the link, the new window fails to load the page, and a fatal error occurs which shuts down my browser.

Thanks.

Disregard. I was able to view in a different browser.

people choose to $h1+ in the woods near a shelter, they should be able to $h1+ without anyone ever knowing anything about it. far away from a shelter in a hole. Privies are expensive and high-maintenance ways to make the trail safe from people who can't conduct themselves with a little grown-upness and they do a poor job of it.
