Road conditions to Deep Gap

Does anyone have info on if the forest service road leading to Deep Gap/Standing Indian area is passable this time of year?

This is a well graded gravel road. I have always found it to be passable, even with relatively low ground clearance.

Scheduled to be closed 1/1 thru 3/15. I suppose you could check with the Nantahala Hiking Club but I'd be surprised if it was open.

My bad. I have been in there many times in January and it was always open.

It was open December 31st. I drove a 2 wheel drive truck to the trailhead no problems.

It's "supposed" to be closed...based on your experience then that is all the more reason to check with the local trail club and verify.

This is a very mild year weatherwise...maybe they're leaving it open? :)

Contact the Ranger office in Franklin or call Ron Haven for the latest gate news.

I know Pisgah is usually closes their gates on or within a couple days of the closure dates.
