Ok, it was on sale, so I got it. http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Patagonia-Women-s-Down-Sweater_10088838_10208_10000001_-1_

N (http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Patagonia-Women-s-Down-Sweater_10088838_10208_10000001_-1_)ow that it's here, I'm thinking it's not enough for an early March start nor can I see myself warm enough on a cold day on Mt. Washington, let alone on Katahdin in October. The rest of the time, it seems like it would work fine, but I can only afford one.

Return, or no? PS - didn't go for pink, but the women's colors are not what you would call earthy. :D

I love mine and it is super warm! I'd keep it. It'll be plenty over the top of your base layers.

Definately return. I did a quick search on geartrade.com today and found several down jackets for under 100 dollars and 2 were the same patagonia jacket in an earthy color. Personally I think it will be warm enough I am bringing a patagonia down sweater vest for my March 12th start. Also if you are starting in early March I dont think you will be in Maine in October. You will probably finish much earlier.

You don't know how I hike. . . . I'll be lucky if I finish in 2013.

I can't imagine it not being warm enough with a couple of layers under, and a rain jacket over. Probably bed time at that point any way.

Oops, looked at the price, I'd return it. Easy to beat that. Might be a Sierra Designs, or Marmot, or First Ascent, but easy to beat. I've been thrilled with the First Ascent I got for $41.

Where did you get a First Ascent for $41 bucks?

Definitely warm enough especially with a base layer and some rain gear over it. I have one and love it. I plan on taking mine but I'm leaving a couple weeks later.

Mmmm. . . I did look at all the places you folks sent me - there was heavier stuff with either 650 or 800 fill down, but not in my size - or it was more for more down of course. I think I'm going to keep it then. I like the weight - 10 oz or so. Thanks for the suggestions. If I get chilled in Maine, I'll make hubby bring me something warmer from NH. :) It's not that far.

Patagonia women's down sweater on Steep and Cheap right not for $110. You've got 30 minutes. Although the BPL test of down sweaters found it to be underfilled, middle of the parck warm, and overpriced, compared to the other products.
