Interesting and no doubt a fun rainy day project. Seems like a lot of work and you get such a flimsy map. Bet taking a bearing on one would be a B!tch.....

This is pretty ingenious. With Smart Phones, usually you can have maps at your disposal, but this would be good for die-hard UL hikers.

Sounds interesting. I bet this technique would be good for kids' art projects and other uses as well. I've got the maps on my phone for the AT, but this would probably be pretty nice to have as a backup and larger scale. Maybe it would be nice to modify the technique and iron it onto a tarp or poncho!
