I bought a Nook Simple Touch a few months ago, and haven't brought it on the trail yet, but I want to so I can have my maps, books, guides all in one place w/o the weight or bulk. I also don't want to kill it by getting it wet or w/e. Does anyone have any experience with weatherproof cases?

I saw one on amazon http://www.amazon.com/TrendyDigital-WaterGuard-Waterproof-Tablet-Reader/dp/B002XOYCFK and am wondering if there is anything better out there

Have you already loaded the maps and guides onto the device? I have a Kindle and the maps were useless in that format.

For waterproofing, a gallon ziploc would work. I'd look for a good case to protect it, or maybe a bubble-wrap sleeve.

I've got a couple dozen maps for a load of different things on there now. The nice thing about the Nook is that it can read PDFs and a ton of other file formats :-D

1+ on the gallon size ziplock bag. Simple.

BTW, Calibre (http://calibre-ebook.com/) is a free e-Book management application that does a great job converting files to your reader.

I highly recommend going to the ALDHA website and purchase the electronic version of the Trail Guide. I down loaded it to my Kindle and it is great! You can purchase the Trail Guide for $8 or better yet, you can join ALDHA for $10 and the Guide is free.

You got waterproof bags for your clothing and sleeping gear, no? I bet you even have two layers of protection. Just toss it in there.
