footwear advice

I'm planning to thru hike starting mid April. Got a bit of plantar faciitis right now and need a stiffer sole than a trail runner. I've got a light hiking boot, New Balance 1000 which work well and I would go with them but they are too warm for summer wear.
Any suggestions?
