I'm fairly new to hiking...needed an excuse to go to the woods without killing something...and will start a thru hike 3/12. The info on this site is extremely usefull but the best thing I've gotten from it is the humor. I've had tears in my eyes a few times laughing at some of the postings. The "people" experience is the reason I'm doing this hike. There are a few exceptions but most of the people contributing answers to this site seem to be people I'd like to spend some time with.

We hammockers prefer to call it the "War Between the REM States". I still maintain rodents are against the Geneva Convention.

hikerboy57

the geneva convention clearly states "rodents shall not be used as offensive weapons. rodents can be used in self defense, however, and rodent launchers are to be used for this purpose only."

The "Stove War" is only one faction of the great war that still endures, how can we forget "Filtration Battles" vollies are thrown back and forth everyday. Filter bombs, aqua-mira bottle grenades, not to mention being exposed to the steri-pen U.V. rays. I won't even get into the cat hole siege.

Dr. Dolittle goes into a bar and meets a Mexican, a Dairyman, and an Arab. He tells the men, "I've been talking to all of your animals and they want you to know a few things. The burro wants you to stop riding him so much. The Mexican say "Si, no surprise there." The cows all say you milk them too hard and your hands are cold. The Vermonter says, "what do you expect them to say", and the sheep say...... The Arab interjects, " SHEEP LIE !"

And of course, who can forget "Pole Wars!"
Lone Wolf even climbed down from his petard to proclaim them silly sticks.
The only answer of course is "whacka-whacka".

That was excellent.

For quite a while I was the proud owner of this T-shirt, I finally gave it to my college aged brother when I decided I was too "mature" to wear it.
