I'm planning a 5 day hike from Amicalola Falls to Neels Gap in May. First time I'm ever hiking so I'm going for 5 days on that hike. This pack seems great for $80. I couldn't find a pack that was cheap and lightweight. I found a $65 TETON Sports Explorer 4000cu backpack but its about 5lbs. I'm on a budget for this trip but I'm willing to spend $80 for the GoLite Quest

Here's a list of what I plan on bringing. Total including water and food is about 30lbs which doesn't seem bad as I'm not aiming for ultralightweight.

If this deal is ending soon, then I'll probably go ahead and order it. I'd just like some input on if this is a good pack or if there's any other options in this price range

I picked up a Quest. For the price (79.00) you can't go wrong.

Dont buy a pack based solely on price. With that said a ton of people love golite (Im just not one of them). Buy the pack that makes the most sense for what you plan to do with it. If the quest fits that profile then yeah buy it while its cheap.

Also some companies like ALPS offer you 50 percent discounts if you buy the gear through the gear review system. You get a discount if you agree to write a review for them (you must sign up for this prior to purchase), its a nice way to get some cheaper gear. Also try cheapandsteep.com and my personal favorite geartrade.com. This always helps my budget.

I plan on starting my thru this season with my quest. My base weight is around 11 lbs though, so I might be switching to a frameless. Not sure yet. I like the quest though.

I picked up a Jam from the GoLite sale, and I'm very happy with it so far. Based on your weight and what you're carrying, the Quest should be a good choice.
