Loved my summer therm-a-rest quilt and do not like a confined mummy bag so for my thru-hike got a great deal on a Golite RS 3 season long quilt. Need to cut about 16 inches off to fit me better. I know this will void the warranty. Was wondering if any one has ever had problems with Golite bags on a thru-hike and actually had to use the warranty. Has anyone ever cut a bag off before and what (if any) problems occurred? Also not so impressed with the straps, any suggestions? The weight is 2lbs 10oz so cutting of 16 inches will save some weight and give material to make a pillow using also my water bladder bag.

How good of a deal did you get on it? I say go for it, just do a good job of closing the seam so you don't lose all your insulation. :-P

60% off and the Reg size was already sold out, which I think would still have been too long... @ 5'7'' the Reg quilt fits up to 6' and the Long 6'6''.
