I just bought a pair of Wildcats and it seemed like a great shoe...until I hiked in the rain. The shoes have absolutely no traction on wet rocks. I went for a hike today and my feet slipped out from under me. I was wondering of anyone else has had this problem? Is there a break in period before the traction gets better? These were supposed to be my shoes for my upcoming thru, but I don't know if I would feel confident hiking in these things.

Did some research... seems like this is pretty common with trail runners. If that's the case...why are they so popular?

Even the best boots will have trouble on wet slippery rocks. Vibram soled boots and trail runners do better than most, and I always thought the rubber that Vasque uses gripped especially well in wet weather. But even those, if the rock is slippery enough, you're going to slip.
