I have read that some hammock hangers use those windshield reflectors(the silver ones) under them to help keep them warm. Do they work? And if so, how much value would they be to a ground sleeper? On top of a BA Aircore.

I dont think it would help much, you dont have the thickness there to reduce conductive heat loss but for 5 or 10 dollars and wally world you can get one and find out. If it does not work then you have something for your car. here is a link to hammock forums on the subject. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=46992

If you are discussing the material that is used in a windsheild that has the the little circles - they are all trying to score on getting a sheet that can be cut to size. Other wise they try to use the foldable one for the sholders. It can be noisy and somewhat uncomfortable. Others Trim it down to fit in a sleeve under the hammock. As to if it works it reflects some body heat back at you - if there is an air pocket not so much. Sweat and aspired nightime body moisture - can leave you soaking.

The bottom line is many sun sheilds are open foam - the best are closed foam or closed cell and are a little hard to find... most of the discussion circles around the one with trapped air...Honest a 15328Premium survival blanket underneath would be better - but noisy. This is more about cost than function.

I use these all the time for making cozies and for sleeping on. I like the cheap ones you can get at the Dollar Store. NOT Reflectix-type, but the very thin foam with the aluminum foil-type backing. They make great ultra-light sit pads. When I sit on them foil side up, I can feel the heat at times. When I want something under my feet/lower legs when I use my 3/4 pad, they provide warmth for very little weight. Some of this padding on either side of your 20" sleeping pad where your elbows tend to slide off makes for an enjoyable, warm night's sleep. :)
