Is there by chance a web site that might address the particular exercises and stretches the normal thruhiker would benefit from? :-?

http://www.yogajournal.com/

That is my go-to site for Yoga references when I need them. There are sections on choosing a style of Yoga for what your concerns and physical ability levels are, and you can then go through and view individual poses and create your own mini program.

I like any of the standing on one leg postures, plus awkward pose, for balance. Triangle, too, is excellent for ones core.

I prefer Qigong. Five Treasures specifically. You can do it in front of your tent or at a shelter. No mat needed.

After a 25 mile day,"Downward Facing Dog" seems to be pretty popular,or maybe they were just crawling.

Don't know Yoga, but you're going to need some help for your IT band somewhere along the trail. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c55IYpoGZQ

be careful with yoga, you could really mess your muscles up if you don't do it properly, ie you do it yourself too much or at the wrong time of day without a teacher.

I do a few, but I'm not good with the names. Since you are always slightly bending forward due to your pack straps, do a very gentle pushup (without your pack) while letting you hips sag and your arms slightly bent. Keep your neck gently in line with your spine. Hold it for a few seconds. This helps to balance your core muscles.

When you get up in the morning stretch your back by kneeling and streching your upper body forward hands above your head, again do everything gently and pull nothing.

Last, when you get to a shelter where there is room just lay on the floor with your butt close to a wall and put your legs yo the wall. It's good for the blood pressure in your legs to drop for a while.

I don't think there is a wrong time of day.
