Found it on sale for $80. I got a 20% of $99 coupon. I like saving money, but only on something I think I would actually like. So, is this a nice pack, or would I be better off dropping more cash on a different pack.

Great design, but not a lot of room there. You should try to see if you can get your overnight gear into that area - might work for you if you can pack small enough. They're nice lightweight packs.

I had the Flash 65 as my first lighter weight packs. It was super comfy. Most I packed it up to was 30 lbs.

Well actually it will be an upsize from my Gregory G-pack 46. I've been cramming that thing to the gills for years. I've had it over 30 pounds I know, but I'm slowly getting my pack weight down with some ul gear and whatnot. I suppose that maybe I should try to find a larger pack to compliment my Gregory which has like 500 miles on it, I suppose it's got plenty more miles to go.

Great pack. Cheap. Light. And you can return it if your stuff doesn't fit.

Great pack, love it. I have the 50, 65, & 30 in this series and my wife also has the 50. I bought the flash 50 at an REI scratch and dent sale and the torso is a little short for me (M and I need L), otherwise I would have used it instead of buying a Granite Gear Crown 60 for the thru hike. I tried to find a 50 in my torso length but could not. For me it is the perfect volume. I use it for 3-4 day hikes but with the fit being wrong I could not see hiking 2000 miles with it. I seriously considered using the 65 but at 3 lb, 3 oz it's too heavy. The 50 at 2 lb, 10 oz would not be bad. I plan to sell the 50 for what I have in it if anyone wants it ($74). You've found a good deal at $80...take it.

If you want a 50L pack then you shouldn't have any qualms about that purchase at that price.

I watched several of those break last year including my girlfriends. I hear they have fixed the issue with the frame since but considering this one's on clearance I'd be worried that it's one of the old ones.

More important when did a small 3000 cu 2 pound 10 ounce pack be UL? I like a hip belt & top bag on flap and maybe a zip on the belt - And I like REI - but UL?

I like these packs because they are relatively light and you will not find any better customer service out there than you will get at REI. Bring it back, we dont mind or care why you are bringing it back we will take it back.
