View Full Version : Blueberry Patch Conundrum

I would really--and I mean really--like to stay at the Blueberry Patch a few nights next week. I have called more than 10 times over the course of 3 days, leaving 2 messages. It's to the point that I feel awkward crowding their caller ID w/ my number. I don't want to be a pest, but it's a six-hour drive for me and it would be a real drag for me to show up and find it full or closed. Any advice on how (or whether) to proceed? Please note that I'm aware of the Hiawassee Budget Inn, and it is my backup plan. Thus the advice I'm seeking is specifically how to proceed regarding the Blueberry Patch.
Sincere thanks for any wise counsel.

no wise counsel, but I heard from a hiker today that there might be some health issues and that the hostel is currently closed.

Blueberry Patch is temporarily closed due to a family emergency.

I read this in a trail journey entry dated 2/29/2012.

Finding the Blueberry Patch open seems to be hit or miss the last year or so.

Confirmation of what Generoll & Captain Blue have said above: There's a sign at Dick's Creek Gap, posted yesterday March 4, that the Blueberry Patch is temporarily closed.

I talked to Baltimore Jack this morning and he said due to family illness it was temporarily closed..
