Just FYI - I finally found the AT Poster map - I've been looking for quite some time, years actually (don't know why I never asked here where to get one...:-?) but if anyone is looking for one too, here is the link!

I went and checked it out on that first site, and it said it's the 1981 version.
Interesting to see how it used to be; not so handy for planning next year's section or thru-hike.

I do not believe there is any version other than the 1981 version (ATC has the same one). And I agree these are not suited for planning, but I doubt, given the scale, that the trail has changed to the point that the map is inaccurate.

I have the long narrow strip map up in my office. Periodically, I look at it to know where I've been and where I'm going. It gives my patients something better looking to see, and an opportunity to discuss their dreams.

Accuracy isn't the point of these maps. The goal is the point.

That's why it's called the "classic" map.
