Found this deal and figured some guys around here would be interested with people moving into windshirts.

Sierra Trading Post has Marmot Ion Wind Hoodies for 48.95 + 30-5% off. So, you can grab one around $30. Not a bad deal.

Debating getting one myself but I already have a rain shell.

Im debating grabbing one of these as my windbreaker.

Here is my upper body outdoor gear arsenal. Do you think this is needless weight?

Insulation:
Sierra Designs Gnar Hoody
Marmot Guide Vest
EMS polartec power stretch hoody
EMS fleece polartec 300 vest
Various fleeces - not used for hiking primarily

Rain Shell:
The North Face Venture

Baselayers:
Terrarmar long sleeve helix
Marmot polartec dry t
Various synthetic shirts

Would this windshirt be a nice addition? I hike mainly on the AT and consider myself a warm hiker where I heat up quickly. Most of the times if im wearing one of those long sleeve shirts im in good shape for 3 season. There seems to be an awkward stage of coldness where I am.hesitant to put on my Venture.

I never hike in the insulation layers, even in below freezing temperatures. The exception would be the power stretch hoody when its below freezing. It also cuts down on the wind atop AT ridge lines.
