I am looking to do this section from north to south in mid July. Given the reservation system in the GSMNP I was looking for some input from others on how they hike(d) this section. I usually do between 13-15 miles a day. I am looking at shelter distances and it appears I will have some long days and some short days. I am also trying to stick to about six days maximum with the first day shuttling to Davenport and making it to the first shelter. That day doesn't count!! Thanks for the help as usual...

Here's my trailjournal entries for the GSMNP section between March 25-30, 2009. It'll give you an idea of what a leisurely pace involves. Last day was a 20 miler out of the park.

Cheers!
