Hello all I'm new to the forums and am looking for some help. A friend and I are looking to do a 100 mile hike or close to 100 on the newegland section of the AT this spring. We would be coming from Maryland and driving 2 vehicles, what we are looking for is a place that would allow us to park one vehicle at are hikes end and a entry point where we could leave the other vehicle parked. We are looking to hike approximately 100 miles and are looking for addresses or advice.

Any help Would be great.

You'll definitely get some good ideas from posts in this thread. You should also use www.atdist.com (http://www.atdist.com), a great tool for learning distances between road crossings.

I think there are enough road crossings that you can pick a general area (ie NH) and work around where you most want to hike. Unless you need the second car for something else I would suggest just driving one and paying for a shuttle out in a trail town, cheaper and more convenient than 2 cars. This way you can more than likely even find a safe place in a trail town to park, get shuttled 100 or so miles away and walk back to your car. In the past I would have said to just check out the online companion for ideas but now you will either have to purchase a companion or other guidebook.

Any hostels and some motels close to the trail will let you leave a car for free, as long as you stay at their place a few nights. Others may charge a few dollars a nite to park.

This is the best site I've found for AT parking information.
