If anyone has seen the man in this photo please contact me via hankrenee at charter.net or contact the rangers for the GSMNP. His name is Derek and he is believed to have started hiking the AT from Newfound Gap during the past 48 hours - unsure of direction. He is 6' 1" and about 200lbs. He has no prior camping or hiking experience and was having a major depressive episode when he departed. His family is concerned about his welfare.
