All,
My first post so be gentle :)
My brothers and I planning our first hike along the AT sometime in September. My parents live in Marshall, NC about .5 miles from the trail where it crosses from NC to TN and one of my brothers lives near Lexington, VA. We are thinking of a 5 day hike/trip between those two points for convenience.
We have all hiked before, but it has been longer for some than others and I've been in TX for so long that I can't remember what home (I grew up in Asheville, NC) looks like. We don't have any required min distance or anything, just thought we could cherry pick a section of about 40-50 miles in length and take our time and enjoy the trip.
I've been looking/reading/researching for places to hike and have found Cold Mountain and McAfee Knob. Any other recommendations in that area?
thanks in advance and please ask questions as I'm sure I left something out,
dave
