Well my new trail crew gig in Colorado gives me 3 days off to play each week and I figured I'll do some of the CT in sections. Later in the season should be no problem, but does anyone know conditons for a safe 2-3 day section this time of year? I have two weeks before I start my season so how does the trail look in early April (near Denver)?

This photo was posted on the CTF's facebook page. It is from less than 24 hrs ago and located in Section 1 (the lowest elevation). About 1-2 miles of this apparently:

Also , as an FYI, Waterton Canyon will be closed for three weeks this April, too:

If you can wait until about April 10th (and use an alt route for Waterton Canyon), the first ~40 miles of the CT should be doable and pleasant to hike. That's the section just before the start of the Lost Creek Wilderness.

Of course, all bets are off if we get a spring snow dump.

Naturally, it all depends on what you enjoy doing too!
