To be on the safe side, give the park a call. Their number is on their website (http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/western/gathland.asp).

I always use this site when looking for parking. It is really helpful.

It has been a number of years since I did a hike of your said itinerary. There was/is a parking lot holding about 20 or so cars specifically for hiking use at Gathland. At the time, there was no charge to park overnight. The parking lot is up from the main road past the Visitor Center.

Does anyone know if this site is down? Planning a two week hike and looking at parking, tried it for a couple days and i cant seem to gain access to the site. On the same note, does anyone know what the parking situation is at mount rogers recreation area? My brother and I are starting in Damascus and my brother is ending at partnership shelter area but I'm hiking another week after that. One of our cars needs to be near partnership so anyone have any info on this? I am hoping to make it to between VA606 (Trents Grocery) and Pearisburg so a car will need to be there too. So if anyone can help with these two areas, it would be much appreciated.

Yeah, call them. But I don't think it's a problem.
