With some of the depressing news of the lost services along the trail in the last couple of years, it is nice to be able to add one:

At mile point 37.2 - Iron Bridge Café and General Store. 8436 Aska Road, Blue Ridge, GA, 30513, 706-632-5060. Closed Mo, 8a-5p Tu-Fr, 8a-4p Sa, 8a-3p Su – plan to extend hours during the summer. Opened February 2012 and love hikers and bikers. Services: hot meals, short term resupply,as pay showers $10, Wi-Fi, and a soon to be opened hostel with a 12 person capacity. Will accept mail drops if you call ahead of time. . http://www.facebook.com/IronBridgeCafe ; [email protected]

That's great news! Though selfishly, I may miss my lonely BMT hikes one day.

This would have been perfect for me. I hiked into that area late and ended up stealth camping after supper. If the hostel had been there I could have showered and had breakfast in the morning before walking off.

Quit sniviling!

I don't think I sniveled, I said it would have been nice. I still had a great time.

Is this the store across the road from the bridge after you cross the river and make a right and walk down the road?

Yes. They recently went out of business and are now open again.

That is great news then and the perfect location to resupply or pick up a drop since it's right on the trail. Given that I'd probably skip going into Cherry Log and save a few hours.

Excellent point. Add to that the folks that will bring you a drop at Watson Gap and you can get through GA without getting far off trail.
