I have to wait until my house is sold to start my hike. I'm under contract today so it looks like I'll be able to start around May 15-20. I'm going to keep the first couple of weeks down to 10 mile days to get in shape. Once I get to Kathadyn I'm going to bus back to Harpers Ferry and head south. Any one else doing similar? :-?

Good luck! That's a great strategy to hike the trail during pleasant seasons and HF is one of the easiest spots to get to on the trail--it connects to the Baltimore/DC transit line.

Sounds like a good plan. Though that late you could also do a full SOBO.

As a matter of fact, I think we have exactly the same plan and exactly the same rough starting date.

Oaks I'll post here when I know my start date. Maybe we can walk together for a while.

US Airways will fly you from Bangor ( BGR ) to Reagan National ( DCA ) via PHL in about 4.5 hours
It will cost you about $ 500.00 one way But it may be worth it
