I'm planning to hike the AT this summer from GA for 5 weeks. Does anyone know approx.
where I will end up? I would like to know the closest town of city so I can get a ride back to FL.
I will be hiking at a slow but steady pace. Thank You!!!!

Based on "slow but steady" here's my best guess.

Assuming you will take 1 day off a week for rest and resupply, then hiking 9 miles a day will get you to Hot Springs, NC or hiking 11 miles a day will get you to Erwin, TN. Good luck.

You'll be very near Damascus. Can get back via the tri cities area (train, plane, etc).

30 days to get to Erwin TN.

I'd estimate Erwin or Damascus. They're within 90 minutes of each other, so it should be pretty easy to arrange a ride depending on how fast you're walking.

Marion, VA is right about 500 miles from Springer and might be a little bit of a push to do in 5 weeks, but it's not out of the question. The nice thing about Marion is that it is the first city you come to which has a bus station which isn't quite aways off the trail.

probably damascus. there's a bus station 30 miles away in bristol, tn. and tri-cities airport is 45 miles from damascus
