Interested in backpacking in Colorado and want to explore one of the least visited parts of Rocky Mountain National Park? And learn some new skills in the process?
Andrew Skurka will be guiding a 3 day backpacking trip in Rocky Mountain National Park this August and I will be assisting.
Less expensive than comparable trip from NOLS and being headed by one of the most well known and experienced outdoors person currently active (Andrew; not me. ;) )

A great way to backpack in Colorado. Avoid some of the pre-trip planning some people don not care for in addition to hiking with some very experienced guides.

Hiking with Skurka would be awesome. That Magnanti guy, I'm not so sure about! :)
It's a tempting trip. Just hard to get off that long, and travel that far. And have to carry a bear canister! Why don't you plan one thru the Wheeler Peak Wilderness, down the Columbine-Hondo National Recreation Trail, into the Latir Wilderness, and then to Eske's Brewpub?

That sounds like a great solo trip for that Magnanti guy...esp with a brew pub involved! :)

Besides going to a really great place in "our" Colorado backyard, there will be an overview of different types of shelters, stoves, etc.
A clinic on backpacking WHILE backpacking...who woulda thunk it? :)
You get to experience an amazing place (Wild Basin in RMNP) with one very experienced backpacker, learn some techniques and tips in the process and see this Magnanti guy who has backpacked now and then...but, more importantly, knows where to find the good brew pubs. ;)
I wish I could swing it.

One question. Is one of your pets really a guinee pig?

Well, they are really Adrianna's pets... :) But, yep, we have a guinea pig (or am I a Guinea ;) ????)

Still room left (but filling fast!) for this trip. The guinea pig will not be coming...but there will be a great chance to apply some of the lessons from Andrew's book (http://www.pmags.com/review-the-ultimate-hikers-gear-guide) in a beautiful setting. :) So far, a diverse crew of people coming from early 30s to early 60s. All eager to learn and share an adventure together.
