I'd say that 10 days is about right to go from the Inn at Long Trail to Route 15. Most people will have already done about 10 days of hiking from Williamston to the Inn to get their trail legs. The first three-ish days after the Inn are reasonably easy hiking (small ups and downs, and some side-mountain hiking). Once you hit Appalacian Gap, the trail changes appreciably and becomes a great deal harsher. If you are not in good shape, you might find it a bit tough because you wont have the trail legs that the end-to-end hikers will have developed.

Check out the Green Mountain Club (http://www.greenmountainclub.org/) website and buy a LT map. Contact them directly with specific questions. Really nice, helpful bunch of people up there.

10 days is fine, I would go into Waitsfield at Appalachian Gap to resupply, as StubbleJumper said...the trail changes right around Lincoln-Appalachian Gap, so get your head prepared for that.

It's without question some of the most beautiful hiking you can do along the East Coast, that section in particular.
