Don't fall for the "don't take sunglasses" recommendations. Last weekend did 3 days 2 nites on the AT in MD and really needed them. Not just because it was so bright, but I also could of avoided getting wacked in the eye twice with small branches. Take them! If you don't need them, wear them on your head.

ChinMusic (http://www.whiteblaze.net/name/nm0000101/): It's 2184 miles to Katahdin, we got a full pack of food, half a liter of water, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
rocketsocks (http://www.whiteblaze.net/name/nm0000004/): Hit it.

I wear sunglasses from morning until dark everyday and feel lost without them, but for some reason I just can't seem to wear them on the trail. Not a weight or packing issue. Just don't like wearing them.
