I think that the front of the bubble is just nosing into Tennessee - Roan Mountains would be my guess - the backside of the bubble would be around Franklin - - so, basically, if you are anywhere in NC, you're it.

I took MapMan's data from his AT Hiking Rate Article ( http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/content.php?44 )
And plotted date vs mean date of arrival for key points along the trail and got this graph.

15714

So for Apr 13, it looks to be about 300 miles up which put you around Jerry Cabin Shelter, according to the AT Distance Calculator ( http://www.atdist.com/ )

Of course this is historic data and does not reflect issues issues peculiar to this year's hikers (weather).

Last weekend, Bob Peoples (Kincora Hostel, Dennis Cove, TN) told me that he is averaging about 7-10 per night. During the busiest part of the season, which is forthcoming, he gets 20-30. Not sure if this helps.

I have seen Jerry Cabin Shelter mentioned in a couple of the journals I am following so that sounds about right.
