I am loooking for a light weight down bag to use for 3 seasons that can be used seperately of zipped together. I am 5'11" and about 165 lbs and my wife is 5' and 100lbs. Will this even work and does it exist? I also don't want to spend a fortune!

all you gotta do is buy two mummy bags of the same length ( in your case Regular ) from the same company
One of the bags has a zipper on the left and one of the bags has zipper on the right ..and zip them together
If only one of you is a hiker you can save the cost of two bags ( but add a little weight ) by buying a semi-rectangular bag , unzipping it , putting 2 pads down and then draping the bag over both of you
One of the nice things about doing it that way is that you each have your own side exit
Give campmor a call and see what they have

Backpacker Magazine advertised a new Feathered Friends down bag for two, but it was pricey.... of course two good down bags would cost $700-800.

Any recommendations on brand and models for a reasonably priced pair?

depends upon what you call "reasonably priced". I wish I had started with my Western Mountaineering instead of going cheap to begin with. A good down bag from WM or Montbell will run between $300 and $400 and is worth every penny.... I wouldn't settle for anything less if you plan on doing much hiking

Nobody doubts that Feathered Friends and Western Mountaineering make great sleeping bags But there are many less expensive good bags out there

Sleeping bags for two SEEM as if they would be cozy and wonderful but they aren't all they crack up to be. You've been hiking for days, you're sort of stinky, clammy, want to go to sleep at different times, etc. - - it's nice to just be in your own sack - you can still get cozy without zipping 'em together - my 2 cents at least ..

Doesn't necessarily even need to be the same length or company.

One downside of zipping two bags together is that you end up with a spot between the two of you where warm air can escape. It can be a big issue on cold nights. Two person bags on the other hand tend to have a piece there to fill in that gap.

if you buy two bags you can zip together or don't. up to you guys, but the zippers must be the same # and OPEN END. some mummy bags don't have this and some bags are 3/4 zip. just check them out in store and have a great time.

Papa hit the nail on the head. Are you sure the two into one bag is a good idea? stink, jimmy legs, sleep habits etc would all affect each other.

Marmot , we use them. they use compatible zippers from womens short to mens long. also speaking from experience they have great zipper placment.
