What age group do you (legally, not emotionally) fall into?

Doctari

"fall into" is right.

There I was, minding my own business, aged 25 or so, when ALL OF A SUDDEN, I am FIFTY! There has got to be a mistake somewhere, dosen't there? I can't be THAT old, can I??

AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!

No, wait, my mom claims to be "around 35ish" so, OK, I'm safe :dance

But my birth thingy says I was born In 54, so, , , , , Hey, Maybe my mom had me 15 years before she was born?

Or, more likely: she hates being old as much as me, & just won't admit to being over 70, sigh!

It gets worse buddy, a year now feels like a month used to. I was born in 1938 and even remember several Civil War veterans that were still around in the 40's. Just keep hiking, the mountains don't know you are old.

You made me think of George Carlin's analysis about growing old:

YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!! But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk. He TURNED, we had to throw him out.
There's no fun now, you're just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed? You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 . . . and your dreams are gone.
But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would! So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60. You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!
You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I was JUST 92."
Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a littlekid again. "I'm 100 and a half!" May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

You took most of the fun out of it when you said legally and not emotionally. Besides I prefer to think of it as what age I have grown up to. I'm gettin' more(or less) grown up everyday. :banana

Yea, cause acording to my wife I'm only 14, or is it 12, anyway I "never grew up" according to her. Can I change my vote?

saimyoji
04-03-2005, 19:04
Yeah...I knew this would come up, thats why I asked people to limit the poll to your real age. Feel free to discuss how you really feel, but please vote your real age group.

BTW: My wife only put 8 candles on my cake last year. Think she was trying to tell me something?

I voted my real age. :)
Physically, mentally and real are three separate age categories. The first two are rarely constant. At the moment I am

Physically 65
Mentally hovering at 14
Really 44

Another thing I have noticed is if I add my mental and physical age together and subtract my real age I come up with today's I.Q
65+14=79-14=65

Yep it works every time. Today is one of my better days :jump

Interesting that it came out a nice bell curve. I would have suspected much higher numbers in the younger years and then taper off, with a second peak for us "middle agers"

saimyoji
04-03-2005, 21:03
Well, I'm not impressed yet. Of the 5342 members, only 52 have voted. That is like, what, 1%?? I think we need a much bigger sample before we can give this poll any validity.

Keep 'em coming. :clap

What year is it?

Biologically, I'm soon to be 46. Mentally, I'm still in my twenties. Physically, I'm about ten years older than biologically.

I'm still thankfull for any day above ground.

Im twenty but usually when people see me they think im about 16 or 17. So if you see a Curly haired guy who likes 16 or 17 year s old hanging out at trail days coming up in may thats me.

Deep in my heart I know I'm 55 but it seldom registers.

well... if I wake up and feet can hit the floor (as short as I am that's a biggy LOL) then it's a great day & I'm off & running. I neither look or act my age but figure that with all the mistakes I've made over the years I must have learned a thing or two. If I turned back the clock, it would be just my luck, that missing year would be the one I learned something in ;) .... so I guess I'll hang on to those years and as long as the feet keep hitting the floor in the morning I'll keep on going. :D

As has often been said ...age is just a measure of chronology. It's how you live and your mental state that determine where you fit.

I'll be 56 in July but I have yet to find many 56 year old people with whom I have much in common. Aside from threads like this and, I really don't give much thought to my age. I'm doing everything now that I was doing in my 30's and 40's and in some cases with greater pleasure. That said ...it sometimes takes me all night to do what I used to do all night !!

Age really is relative. I've meet 50 -somethings who are in awesome shape. Can kick my 30 yr old butt in any activitiy!

I've met people my age (mainly back where I grew up) who are out-of-shape, look worn out, and hard to believe that we are the same age.

I've met 20 yr olds whose idea of exercise is going from the couch to the fridge and back. They will look like the worn out 30 yr olds I havce seen.

I figure as long as I stay active, take care of myself (and hopefully inherited the same genes that made my grandfather healthy for most of his life), this body should beo n the trails for a long time. :)

The reason why I like hiking is that no one gives a rat's behind how old you are. The people that do this are in general, crazy, and it makes me fill right at home.

Again, I didn't want the whole "Age is in your head" thing to be an issue with the poll, just wanted to get a sense of the demographic of WB users.

I gotta tell you though, I'm really, really feeling a lot more pain than they are, I'm sure!

I'll be 34 in 10 days, and I've never felt better. The older I get, the more truth I find in the old axiom, "youth is wasted on the young". Like my favorite song says, always look on the bright side of life.

I regretted when I was young boy, I really wanted time to go fast so that I can get driver license. Now, I am 34 and shucks, time goes by too faster than what I thought. I think maybe God granted me my wish when I was little boy. Damn!

I just turned 30 (yep that's right TURNED as in milk turns bad...) and I put my age in the 30-40 range - right now anyway I like feeling a bit older. At this point I'm happy to be out of that "young adult angst" and in a place where everyone is more comfortable with who they are and what they are doing with their lives.
