I don't know, but I have often wondered whether the way the water comes in three prongs, because it resembles the tines of an upside-down pitchfork, is the reason that some things in this area are named "Devil Fork," such as the nearby Devil Fork Gap. If there's any truth in that, then this would presumably be Devil Fork Falls. But I defer to the experts.

I remember that waterfall, here are some pics -- notice all the nice trees for hanging your food:D;)

I passed this spot on a sunny evening in late October 2009. In the Fall, the waterflow was quite a bit less than shown here, but the leaves on the surrounding trees had changed to yellow and the sun shone through the trees from the ridgline, "setting the very air glowing gold." It was one of those times when I wish that a picture could have captured what I was seeing and feeling.

Thats Sugarloaf Branch Falls. Its just south of Sugarloaf Gap. It can be a very low flow waterfall. I have seen it just as a wet wall. I believe its mentioned in the ATC guide just as a small no name waterfall/cascade.

BabySue: Devil Fork Falls is just beside TN352 right after you turn at the school.
