"For years we have offered free, limited detail handout maps at Park offices and campgrounds. This new selection of downloadable maps is one more way for us to emphasize that maps are an essential item when hiking in the Park."

Quite an upgrade from the old handouts.

Each of these links will result in a download of a pdf showing trail within the park.

TJ, that's a bad link. Looks like two "http://" in there. Don't know if anything else is bad. Here's a hint... always try for yourself any link you post, after posting it.

I imagine this is the correct link?--

...ok, there is a free android and iphone ap called maprika that i have been babbling about for a while here. not sure anyone shares my enthusiasm! if anyone wants me to scan the baxter state park maps, callibrate for gps use, and post for shared use on maprika i will do it. any interest? the maps remain as images which are available even when there's no phone reception... with reception, the ap will show your location on the scanned map, will record path and speed.

Close to zero. Some folks get a signal once they get well above tree line, I hear tell.

Most smart phone GPSs don't require network or phone connectivity, unless you need it for maps. Use an application that allows you to download and store maps, like Backcountry Navigator Pro, and your GPS ought to work fine.

iPhone GPS does not need cellular connection to work. Does maprika need one?
