I am going to be thru hiking the Appalachian Trail South Bound in either late June or early July depending on scheduling, but I did not see a lot of product for a SOBO trail guide. Are there any that I don't have to preorder and will be out in time for my hike or would I be better off just getting the more popular NOBO guide and follow it backwards?

AWOL's guide (http://www.theatguide.com/) has a SOBO version. I think the preorder thing on the order form is something he forgot to change when hiking season started. Afterall most NOBO hiking in 2012 have already left and many are using it.

Yes. But if you try to order it bundled with the Map set, http://www.shop.theatguide.com/Book-and-Map-Set-ATGPP.htm
It still shows preorder which I think he forgot to change since its obvious that he is shipping the guide.

The SOBO AWOL guide is best. It is the only guide that is written for hikers. The others all have an axe to grind. The data book and the Thru hikers companion all have the mark of the trail clubs and the ATC. They have an agenda of "don't do this and don't do that". They guide you in a way that they want you to take. They fail to mention or omit things that they want you to not notice. A control device.

I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago, and got it a few days later.
